Important milestones in 138 years of BRILL history

1873
The company is established by the BRILL brothers in Wuppertal-Barmen. Tools and machinery are manufactured.
1874
BRILL begins manufacturing hand lawnmowers in their own foundry.
1920
As motorisation grows, the first motor lawnmower is included in the BRILL range.
1981
BRILL is taken over by Henkel, Düsseldorf.
1986
Gardena takes over BRILL.
1993
Werner Kress (founder Gardena) from Ulm takes over as the owner of BRILL.
2005
Launch of the world´s first: "evolution" the new generation of electric lawnmowers.
2007
The classic among the BRILL lawn mowers is produced in a new design and is now called RazorCut.
2008
Market launch of the Steelline range a sturdy, powerful and sporty new generation of lawnmowers with extra-large front and rear wheels for improved traction.
2009
AL-KO GERÄTE GMBH takes over the BRILL production division of BRILL Gloria Haus- und Gartengeräte GmbH.
2010
Market launch of the single-axle scarifier, which is immediately popular thanks to its agility and additional aerator function.
2011
Market launch of the Aluline range, a generation of lawnmowers of a very special class: cast from high-quality aluminium and equipped with 4-in-1 functionality (mowing, catching, mulching, side discharge).
